New Group on Facebook: Hoosier Moms Say No to Common Core
Sign a petition to stop the implementation of the Common Core in Indiana.
Our Founding Fathers believed education was critical to maintaining a democracy. They also understood that a national system of education could be used as a tool for indoctrination. That is why, though deeming education critical to preservation of the democracy, they left education to each state.
We were given a Republic, as quoted by Ben Franklin, if we could keep it. Today, the Common Core State Standards initiative threatens that Republic by nationalizing what will taught in schools.
Since a "Common Core" cannot be mandated federally, the Federal DOE tied receiving educational dollars to the acceptance of Common Core. The Common Core exists, then, under the guise of being a state initiative.

Diane Ravitch blog asks why CCSS weren't field testing before adopting as a nation.
I said two years ago that they should be field-tested before national adoption. The critique says I am wrong, that the standards needed no field-testing, and that they should be adopted as is without delay. We know enough already.
I don't agree.
